Events and Celebrations

The big one, of course, is the Terlingua International Chili Championship (both the CASI and Original versions), drawin' thousands of "chili heads" every early November for days of cook-offs, live music, margarita contests, salsa battles, anything-but-chili cookin', and pure partyin' in the desert. It's legendary, started back in 1967, and still the spiciest shindig around. Other fun includes Ride 4 Trails motorcycle rally in mid-October with live tunes, games, and barbecue, Dia de los Muertos celebrations at the cemetery in early November honorin' the departed with lights and love, and smaller local happenings like pet fundraisers with brisket, tunes, and costume contests for the pups.
